Whether it's a colt that has never been ridden, or a horse that displays problem behavior, we establish basic rules on the ground first. Then provide the fundamental basics that works for all kinds of horses and every discipline! We can also train for a fully finish horse for kids, trail riding, trail challenges, mounted shooting, gaming and the open show ring.
Once under saddle, our horses are exposed to a wide variety of situations. We ride in the arena, out on the rugged, beautiful Bureau of Land Management trails just behind our ranch, and, by special arrangement, take clients' horses to shows, mounted shoots... even parades and cattle drives.
Lauman Training can teach your horse to be very technical or very basic, to meet the riders needs.
Kitty & Rick have held clinics and demonstrations as far east as Florida and into California and Washington. They help people with gentling wild horses, teaching a spoiled horse manners, and generally learning how to work with their horses, not against them, improving on their riding technique, from show to trail riding.

Horse Training
As far as what we charge for training, we bill a little differently than most trainers. At Lauman Training we work horses 5 days a week, an hour to an hour and a half per day minimum and bill accordingly. We charge an average of $775 per month, which breaks down into $550 per month training and $7.50 per day board. Board consists of grass and/or grass/alfalfa mix hay, a hand full of oats with some flax and selenium salt and mineral mix. We have large stalls 14' x 21' which are cleaned daily with comfortable sawdust bedding. We do have some outdoor pens and group pens sometimes available.
We require a $500 deposit when a horse comes into training that will go toward the last month of training. In most cases we take horses in for a minimum of two months of training. We require a minimum of 3 months if the horse is untouchable, barely handle able or a stallion and you want them started under saddle. If you just want to get one gentled or have some groundwork done, or an evaluation on an already broke horse we would do just a month. We also offer three free lessons per month of training and encourage our clients to take us up on that offer!
Once the horse is in they can stay for as long as they need or as long as the owner wants. The longer we have them the more we can teach them and we try to train for what the owner wants. We occasionally have a waiting list and can sometimes out 2 to 4 months at any given time and sometimes longer. If you think you would like to bring your horse in or get on our waiting list please give me your name, number and a short description of your horse and what you would like accomplished.
